TGIF, For Want Of A Better Phrase

I tried to be creative, I really did. But honestly, by Friday, all I can think is "lemmeoutlemmeoutlemmeoutlemmeout..."
Thankfully, my workplace tries to balance out our cabin fever by letting us indulge in the fine tradition of Casual Fridays. I was really interested to learn about the history of Casual Fridays over at All Things Kate - it's one of those things that you never really consider the origins of, but once someone points it out you wonder how you never thought about it before.

In your feedback to the Listen Lady, there were a couple of requests I expand my repertoire a bit, and to be totally honest with you, I've been putting off taking full body shots for this blog. I'm excruciatingly aware that once I put pictures up here, they're out there forever, and as much as I wish I loved my fat ass, I really don't.
HOWEVER, I have noticed that through repeatedly taking photos of my face for this, and other projects, I've gotten a lot more comfortable with it, so I'm hoping I can do the same for my ass. Exposure therapy of sorts. In later posts, I plan to give y'all some actual advice about what to wear to work, both on casual days and formal days, but for this first time out, I'm just going to spam you all with pictures before I lose my nerve.
So here we are, today's Casual Friday outfit.

This is the kitchen, where I try not to get annoyed at people who
are incapable of putting dishes away
I got the awesome Futurama shirt at local nerdcon Supanova, and the
skirt is a second-hand Suzanne Grae. The shoes are by Planet Shoes, who make
the most comfiest shoes in the entire world.

This is part of what my company does. People get shot in Mozambique, we
arrange to get them out alive.

Can you tell I felt a bit ridiculous taking these pictures?

I've noticed other people don't do this, but I have a real thing for matching my
accessories. If I'm wearing a purple shirt, I MUST have purple nails and eyeshadow.

Fridays I like to wear a polish that's as cheerful and sparkly as possible,
because I usually need the mood lift by then. This is Purple Addiction by Alanna Renee

I am also a huge fan of interesting earrings. I actually had someone stop by my desk yesterday
specifically to see "what's going on with your ears today."

I also love an interesting necklace. I got this adorabubble susuwatari pendant from
MEWtube, and enormously talented maker on Etsy

So there you go. Let me know what you think!

  1. dude that is a perfect skirt. below-the-knee fit n flare skirts are tragically underrated.

    1. Isn't it great? I have one in a slightly dressier material too for proper work days.

  2. I love the colour co-ordination - the nail polish too for extra dedication to flair!

  3. I think I do it because I'm still not super comfy with wearing colours - if all the coloured bits match, it feels less challenging.
